Plagiarism Check
The Editorial Board of the Bulletin of Intelligent Machines and Algorithms (BIMA) upholds a strict stance against plagiarism. Therefore, the following policies are established to outline specific actions (penalties) if plagiarism is identified in a submitted article.
Definition:
Plagiarism refers to the act of intentionally or unintentionally attempting to gain credit or value for scientific work by incorporating part or all of another individual’s work, without proper and adequate acknowledgment of the original source.
Policy:
- Articles submitted to BIMA must be original, not previously published, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Any content taken verbatim from other sources must be clearly identified and differentiated from the original text.
- In the event plagiarism is detected, the Editor-in-Chief is responsible for reviewing the article and approving actions based on the extent of the plagiarism. The following guidelines will be adhered to:
- Minor Plagiarism: If a short sentence is traced from another article without proper citation.
Action: The author will receive a warning and will be requested to amend the text, ensuring proper citation. - Substantial Plagiarism: If a majority of the article is copied from other sources without proper citation and without acknowledgment of the original source.
Action: The article will be rejected for publication in BIMA, and the author may face sanctions, including a ban from publishing in the journal. - All authors are responsible for the content of their submissions, as they are required to sign the BIMA Publication Ethics Statement Form. In cases of plagiarism, all authors will face the same actions as outlined.
- If an author is found to have submitted the same manuscript simultaneously to another journal, either during the review process or after publication, the sanctions outlined under point 2 will be applied.
- In cases of plagiarism beyond the situations described above, the editor of BIMA reserves the right to impose sanctions according to editorial policy.
